66 Urging action to attract displaced federal workers to Georgia and to encourage federal

88 investment in the state; and for other purposes.2
99 WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been headquartered3
1010 in Atlanta since 1946, contributing to Georgia's role as a hub for public health and federal4
1111 operations; and5
1212 WHEREAS, the presence of the CDC, along with various other federal offices in Georgia,6
1313 has led to a highly skilled federal workforce within the state; and7
1414 WHEREAS, shifts in federal employment policies have resulted in changes to workforce8
1515 distribution and agency operations across the country; and9
1616 WHEREAS, some federal agencies are exploring opportunities to relocate or establish offices10
1717 in different regions; and11
1818 WHEREAS, Atlanta, as the capital of Georgia and a major economic and cultural center of12
1919 the South, is well-positioned to serve as a strategic location for federal investment and13
2020 workforce expansion; and14

2323 WHEREAS, Georgia seeks to strengthen its role as a national leader in innovation, economic

2525 development, and workforce growth; and16
2626 WHEREAS, attracting skilled federal employees to Georgia would benefit the state's17
2727 workforce and economy while providing new opportunities for those affected by federal18
2828 employment changes.19
2929 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
3030 urge all state departments, agencies, boards, and other instrumentalities to explore strategies21
3131 to attract displaced federal employees to Georgia's workforce.22
3232 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body encourage legislative action23
3333 to support and incentivize employment opportunities for displaced federal workers in both24
3434 public and private sectors within the state.25
3535 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26
3636 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Governor, heads27
3737 of state departments and agencies, and the public.28
