88 WHEREAS, arts and culture embody much of the accumulated wisdom, intellect, and2
99 imagination of humankind; and3
1010 WHEREAS, arts and culture improve the overall quality of life in Georgia's communities;4
1111 and5
1212 WHEREAS, Georgians recognize the arts and culture industry as an important pillar and a6
1313 source of pride in their neighborhoods and communities; and7
1414 WHEREAS, towns, cities, and counties, through their local and state arts agencies and8
1515 councils representing thousands of arts and cultural organizations, celebrate the value and9
1616 importance of arts and culture in the lives of Georgians and the health of thriving10
1717 communities during Georgia Arts Day; and11
1818 WHEREAS, through organizational spending and the resulting economic impact, the arts and12
1919 culture industry generated $1.3 billion in 2022, supporting 19,734 Georgia jobs; and13

2222 WHEREAS, an overwhelming number of visitors to Georgia report that their reason for

2424 visiting was to attend performances, events, exhibits, venues, and arts and culture-related15
2525 facilities; and16
2626 WHEREAS, the arts and culture industry serves as a catalyst for generating economic17
2727 impact, stimulating business development, spurring urban renewal, attracting tourists and18
2828 area residents to community activities, and improving the overall quality of life in Georgia's19
2929 cities.20
3030 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21
3131 recognize February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia and encourage communities22
3232 throughout the state to celebrate and promote the arts and culture.23
3333 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24
3434 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the25
3535 press.26
