66 Acknowledging the outstanding leadership of Pamela J. Brown during her time serving as

88 Chairwoman of the Rockdale County Board of Education; and for other purposes.2
99 WHEREAS, Pamela J. Brown began her first term on the Rockdale County Board of3
1010 Education in January 2017, served as Vice Chairwoman from January 2021 to December4
1111 2022, and has served as Chairwoman of the seven-member board since January 2023; and5
1212 WHEREAS, under her leadership as Chairwoman, the Rockdale County Board of Education6
1313 maintained its Exemplary Board status and earned the Leading Edge Award from the7
1414 Georgia School Boards Association; and8
1515 WHEREAS, Pamela J. Brown led the Board in successfully passing annual budgets, reducing9
1616 the millage rate, and maintaining the school system's debt-free status; and10
1717 WHEREAS, during her tenure as Chairwoman, Rockdale County Public Schools achieved11
1818 continuous improvement in many areas, including achieving the highest Four-Year Cohort12
1919 Graduation Rate of 88.75 percent and the highest CTAE Graduation Rate of 99.36 percent;13
2020 increasing AP course offerings, AP exam achievement, and the number of AP Scholars14
2121 named; increasing gifted student eligibility and enrollment; showing consistent gains in all15

2424 subject areas and grade levels on the state Milestones Assessments; all high schools being

2626 named AP Honor Schools; and increasing career pathway course offerings, career pathway17
2727 student enrollment, and career pathway completion; and18
2828 WHEREAS, Pamela J. Brown also serves as the Georgia School Boards Association District19
2929 4 Director, charged with fostering greater regional collaboration between member boards of20
3030 education and their respective communities; and21
3131 WHEREAS, Pamela J. Brown is a longtime resident of Rockdale County with deep familial22
3232 roots and is well known in the community for her broad and varied work, focused on23
3333 education and community service; and24
3434 WHEREAS, Pamela J. Brown currently works as a Transmission Analyst for Southern25
3535 Company with over 37 years of service and holds a Master of Business Administration26
3636 degree; and27
3737 WHEREAS, she and her husband, John, are the parents of three children who attend or are28
3838 graduates of Rockdale County Public Schools; and29
3939 WHEREAS, Pamela J. Brown has been re-elected to serve her third term on the Rockdale30
4040 County Board of Education and will continue to advocate for public education, students,31
4141 families, faculty, and staff.32
4242 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body33
4343 acknowledge the outstanding leadership of Chairwoman Pamela J. Brown and commend34
4444 Rockdale County Public Schools for its achievements and dedication to continuous35
4545 improvement.36

4848 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
