4343 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

4747 SECTION 1. Chapter 334, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§334- Suicide counseling services. (a) All community mental health centers, psychiatric facilities, special treatment facilities, hospitals, and any other institutions or facilities, whether public or private, that provide mental health treatment shall provide one-on-one suicide counseling services to patients who have attempted or threatened suicide. (b) Suicide counseling services shall be provided by a licensed physician, psychologist, psychiatrist, or an advanced practice registered nurse with a psychiatric specialization and shall be available at any time to patients at community mental health centers, psychiatric facilities, special treatment facilities, hospitals, and any other institutions or facilities, whether public or private, that provide mental health treatment." SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. INTRODUCED BY: _____________________________
