4343 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

47- SECTION 1. Section 291C-137, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (f) to read as follows: "(f) Every person who violates this section shall be subject to a fine of [$250] $300 that shall be deposited into the state highway fund; provided that if a person violates this section while operating a motor vehicle in a school zone or construction area, as defined in section 291C-104, the fine shall be [$300,] $400, which shall be paid to the director of finance pursuant to section 291C-171." SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date. SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
