A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Thirty-seventh REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $99,010,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2021-2022 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the thirty-seventh representative district, as follows: 1. Kipapa Elementary School Design and construction for a covered play court. Design $900,000 Construction $2,100,000 Total funding $3,000,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 2. Kipapa Elementary School Design and construction for air conditioning cafeteria. Design $150,000 Construction $350,000 Total funding $500,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 3. Kipapa Elementary School Design and construction for air conditioning classrooms and portables. Design $600,000 Construction $1,400,000 Total funding $2,000,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 4. Mililani High School Construction and equipment for a multipurpose facility for sports and performing arts. Construction $24,500,000 Equipment $250,000 Total funding $24,750,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 5. Mililani High School Construction and equipment for administrative building improvements, filling courtyard with nine offices, and creating a student service lobby. Construction $3,500,000 Equipment $40,000 Total funding $3,540,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 6. Pearl City High School Design and construction for resurfacing the tennis court. Design $50,000 Construction $600,000 Total funding $650,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 7. Pearl City High School Design, construction, and equipment for renovation of the medical classroom. Design $100,000 Construction $1,000,000 Equipment $500,000 Total funding $1,600,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 8. Pearl City High School Design, construction, and equipment for the replacement of gymnasium bleachers. Design $100,000 Construction $250,000 Equipment $600,000 Total funding $950,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 9. Waikele Elementary School Design and construction for academy classroom, six classrooms. Design $1,000,000 Construction $9,200,000 Total funding $10,200,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 10. Waikele Elementary School Design and construction for campus wide lighting improvements. Design $50,000 Construction $920,000 Total funding $970,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 11. Waipahu High School Construction for new adult education portables. Construction $3,000,000 Total funding $3,000,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 12. Waipahu High School Construction for phase 2 of new integrated classroom building. Construction $20,000,000 Total funding $20,000,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 13. Waipahu High School Construction for phase 2 of schoolwide exterior painting. Construction $500,000 Total funding $500,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 14. Waipahu High School Design and construction for re-keying all locks on exterior doors throughout campus. Design $75,000 Construction $275,000 Total funding $350,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 15. Waipahu Intermediate School Construction for phase 2 of DREAMS (Digital, Media, Engineering, Animation, Music, and Science) building. Construction $27,000,000 Total funding $27,000,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.
