37	37	REQUESTING THE HONOLULU CITY COUNCIL TO FOREGO APPROVAL OF THE LUANA KAI RETIREMENT COMMUNITY PROJECT UNTIL CERTAIN QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED.

43	43	WHEREAS, a retirement community, known as Luana Kai: A Life Plan Community, is planned for Hawaii Kai; and WHEREAS, although government officials should always be mindful of the needs of senior citizens, including prospective residents of the proposed Luana Kai project, officials should also be mindful of their obligation to hear all voices of the community; and WHEREAS, many residents in Hawaii Kai, including senior citizens, have raised valid concerns relating to the proposed Luana Kai project; and WHEREAS, the Honolulu City Council has the power to approve or disapprove the development of the Luana Kai project; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2022, that the Honolulu City Council is requested to forego approval of the Luana Kai: A Life Plan Community project until all questions of the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board and other Hawaii residents that relate to the project have been answered in a satisfactory manner; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Chair of the Honolulu City Council and Chair of the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board.
