43	43		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

47		-	SECTION 1. Chapter ~~343~~, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§~~343~~- Department of agriculture lands; food production; exemption from environmental impact ~~statements~~. The proposed drilling, construction, or use of a well on lands leased from the department of agriculture shall be exempt from the requirements of ~~this chapter~~; provided that the land is used to support agriculture and food production." SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect ~~on July 1, 2050~~.
