 HOUSE RESOLUTION     COMMENDING THE UNSUNG HEROES OF HAWAII's HOMELESS.       

HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

COMMENDING THE UNSUNG HEROES OF HAWAII's HOMELESS.

 

 

 

      WHEREAS, homelessness continues to be a worsening crisis in our islands; and        WHEREAS, there is a great need for compassionate and dedicated citizens to aid their fellow man in having access to life's most basic necessities; and        WHEREAS, Twinkle Borge and Blanche McMillan have demonstrated their commitment to their communities through the creation of thriving tiny home villages for our unhoused populations; and        WHEREAS, Twinkle Borge also serves Waianae by conducting regular cleanups all across the Waianae Coast, feeding and clothing residents of other houseless encampments, and distributing back-to-school supplies each year to both houseless and housed families; and        WHEREAS, Blanche McMillan, CEO of Hui Mahiai 'Aina, , has made it her mission to give those who need help along the Windward coast a home, keeping more than 70 people off the streets and free of disease; and        WHEREAS, Blanche McMillan upholds Hui Mahiai 'Aina's vision of assisting the houseless in the Waimanalo community to become self-sufficient, employable, and independent through the collective management of their land and its resources; now, therefore,              BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2023, that this body commends these two exemplary and unsung heroes of Hawaii's homeless and wishes them all the success in their future endeavors.
