BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES H.B. NO. 2760 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2024 STATE OF HAWAII HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES H.B. NO. 2760 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2024 STATE OF HAWAII A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Twenty-seventh REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $27,500,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-seventh representative district, as follows: 1. Nuuanu elementary school Construction for resurfacing of visitor and staff parking lots, driveways, and common areas, including the repair and smoothing of sidewalks, walkway areas, speed bumps, and curbs. Construction $1,200,000 Total funding $1,200,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 2. Nuuanu elementary school Plans and construction for enclosure of a covered gym, installation of new restrooms and a classroom in building Q, and repair of walkway areas and drainage. Plans $250,000 Construction $1,500,000 Total funding $1,750,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 3. Nuuanu elementary school Plans and construction for new restrooms in buildings L, M, and N. Plans $250,000 Construction $1,500,000 Total funding $1,750,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 4. Nuuanu elementary school Plans, design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for an eight-classroom building to add classroom space and replace deteriorating classrooms. Plans $400,000 Design $400,000 Construction $15,000,000 Equipment $5,000,000 Total funding $20,800,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education. 5. Pedestrian activated signal Design and construction for a new pedestrian activated signal at the intersection of Pali highway and Wood street. Design $500,000 Construction $1,500,000 Total funding $2,000,000 The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of transportation. SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2026, shall lapse as of that date.
