37	37	REQUESTING that THE STATE AUDITOR CONDUCT A SUNRISE ANALYSIS OF funeral directors and cemetery salespersons.

43	43	WHEREAS, although certain death care professions require licensure in the State, no licensure requirements exist for funeral directors and cemetery salespersons; and WHEREAS, due to its sensitive subject matter, greater regulatory oversight of the death care industry is necessary; and WHEREAS, H.B. No. , introduced during the Regular Session of 2024, establishes a death care industry board and requires that funeral directors and cemetery salespersons be licensed by the board; and WHEREAS, section 26H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, states that "[n]ew regulatory measures being considered for enactment that, if enacted, would subject unregulated professions and vocations to licensing or other regulatory controls shall be referred to the auditor for analysis"; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2024, the Senate concurring, that the Auditor is requested to conduct a sunrise analysis of the licensing of funeral directors and cemetery salespersons as proposed under H.B. No. , which was introduced during the Regular Session of 2024; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is requested to submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2025; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor.
