43	43	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

47	47	SECTION 1. Chapter 481I, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§481I- Motor vehicle; projected lifetime operating cost; disclosure. (a) No dealer may offer for sale any motor vehicle without first providing written notice to the prospective consumer of the projected lifetime operating costs of a motor vehicle, including: (1) Ten-year fuel costs; and (2) Maintenance and repairs. (b) The dealer shall display the projected lifetime operating cost of a motor vehicle alongside the listed purchase price." SECTION 2. Chapter 481J, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§481J- Used motor vehicle; projected lifetime operating cost; disclosure. (a) No dealer may offer for sale any used motor vehicle without first providing written notice to the prospective consumer of the projected lifetime operating costs of a motor vehicle, including: (1) Ten-year fuel costs; and (2) Maintenance and repairs. (b) The dealer shall display the projected lifetime operating cost of a motor vehicle alongside the listed purchase price." SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 4.
