43 | 43 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: |

47 | 47 | | SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to support the collaboration between the department of agriculture and aquaculture industry leaders concerning the allocation of the department's four new aquaculture positions and expanded budget of 2022. SECTION 2. The department of agriculture shall consult with at least three members of the aquaculture industry on the following: (1) How to prioritize staffing of the four positions established pursuant to Act , Session Laws of Hawaii 2022; (2) How new staff can be strategically deployed to address aquaculture industry needs; (3) How the aquaculture industry can support the department of agriculture; and (4) How to increase access to land and water for aquaculture in the State. SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2023-2024 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the support of collaboration between the department of agriculture and aquaculture industry leaders. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act. SECTION 4. The department of agriculture shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2024 and 2025.
