4747 SECTION 1. The legislature finds that exempting housing developed by the department of Hawaiian home lands from school impact fees allows for more homes to be developed for beneficiaries. The department of Hawaiian home lands currently leases educational facilities for public schools, public charter schools, early learning facilities, and other similar facilities at minimal to no cost. The purpose of this Act is to make permanent the exemption of housing developed by the department of Hawaiian home lands from school impact fees. SECTION 2. Act 197, Session Laws of Hawaii 2021, is amended by amending section 6 to read as follows: "SECTION 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval[; provided that on July 1, 2024, section 1 of this Act shall be repealed and section 302A-1603(b), Hawaii Revised Statutes, shall be reenacted in the form in which it read on the day prior to the effective date of this Act]." SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. SECTION 4. This Act, upon its approval, shall take effect on June 30, 2024.
