H.F. 142 Section 1. Section 35A.13, subsection 5, paragraph a, Code 1 2023, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. For each fiscal year that the balance of the trust fund 3 on July 1 is below fifty million dollars, the interest and 4 earnings on moneys in the fund and the first five eight hundred 5 thousand dollars transferred pursuant to section 99G.39 from 6 the lottery fund are appropriated to the commission to be used 7 to achieve the purposes of subsection 7 . Moneys appropriated 8 to the commission under this paragraph that remain unencumbered 9 or unobligated at the end of the fiscal year shall revert to 10 the fund. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanations substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill increases the amount the commission of veterans 15 affairs may use from the veterans trust fund for the benefit 16 of veterans in a year when the balance of the veterans trust 17 fund on July 1 of that fiscal year is below $50 million from 18 $500,000 to $800,000. 19 -1- LSB 1432HV (1) 90 dg/rn 1/ 1
