                            Senate Resolution 108 - Introduced   SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 108   BY GIDDENS , SWEENEY , DOTZLER , and ZUMBACH   A Resolution recognizing and congratulating University 1   of Northern Iowa (UNI) wrestler Parker Keckeisen for 2   his outstanding wrestling accomplishments. 3   WHEREAS, on March 23, 2024, UNI wrestler Parker 4   Keckeisen won the National Collegiate Athletic 5   Association (NCAA) individual wrestling championship at 6   184 pounds, winning the final match by a major decision 7   and closing out the season with 14 straight bonus-point 8   victories; and 9   WHEREAS, he became the first ever UNI Panther 10   wrestler to be named a four-time Division I 11   All-American, after earning the distinction in 12   2024; and 13   WHEREAS, wrestling his way through the 184-pound 14   weight class bracket at the Big 12 Conference 15   championship, Keckeisen was named the tournaments 16   Outstanding Wrestler following his fourth Big 12 17   Conference title; and 18   WHEREAS, he became a finalist for the Dan Hodge 19   Trophy, which is awarded to the nations top collegiate 20   wrestler, after earning bonus-point wins in all but 21   three matches; and 22   WHEREAS, in addition to his excellent work and 23   outstanding accomplishments on the mat, Keckeisen also 24   earned recognition as a National Wrestling Coaches 25   Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American as a result 26   of his dedication to his studies in construction 27   management at UNI; and 28   -1-   LSB 6394XS (6) 90   th/jm   1/ 2  

  S.R. 108   WHEREAS, Keckeisen surpassed 100 victories in his 1   collegiate career which included milestone victories 2   over highly ranked wrestlers at both the Big 12 3   Wrestling Championship Tournament and the NWCA All-Star 4   Classic, winning the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, 5   taking first place at the Grand View Open, and winning 6   all three of his matches at the Collegiate Duals; and 7   WHEREAS, he enrolled at UNI after winning two 8   Wisconsin high school state championships along with 9   earning Academic All-State honors; NOW THEREFORE, 10   BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate 11   congratulates and honors Parker Keckeisens outstanding 12   wrestling accomplishments, culminating in the NCAA 13   wrestling championship title at 184 pounds; and 14   BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the 15   Secretary of the Senate shall transmit a copy of this 16   resolution to Parker Keckeisen; UNI wrestling head 17   coach, Doug Schwab; interim director of athletics, Bob 18   Bowlsby; and UNI president, Mark Nook. 19   -2-   LSB 6394XS (6) 90   th/jm   2/ 2
