3 | 3 | H.F. 344 Section 1. Section 237A.13, subsection 6, Code 2025, is 1 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu 2 thereof the following: 3 6. The department shall reimburse a child care provider 4 who provides child care to a child participating in the state 5 child care assistance program at the rate the provider would 6 typically charge a private-pay family for child care. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanations substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill replaces the ability for child care providers 11 to collect additional fees from families participating in 12 the state child care assistance program (CCA) if the child 13 care providers private-pay rate is more than the states CCA 14 reimbursement rate with the requirement that the department 15 of health and human services reimburse a child care provider 16 at the rate the child care provider would typically charge a 17 private-pay family for child care. Under current law, child 18 care providers are reimbursed under the CCA at a rate equal 19 to the lesser of the child care providers private-pay rate 20 or a rate set by the state varying on the type of child care 21 provider, the age of the child, and the child care providers 22 rating under the quality rating system. 23 -1- LSB 1812YH (3) 91 dg/ko 1/ 1 |
