Section 236.6, Code 2025, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 1A. A peace officer may file a petition 3 under subsection 1 on behalf of a person if that person claims 4 to be in present danger of domestic abuse and the person 5 requests the peace officer to submit the petition. 6 EXPLANATION 7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 8 the explanations substance by the members of the general assembly. 9 This bill allows a peace officer to file a petition to 10 receive a 72-hour emergency protective order on a persons 11 behalf if the person claims to be in present danger of domestic 12 abuse and the person requests the peace officer to submit the 13 petition. 14 -1- LSB 2268HV (1) 91 dg/ko 1/ 1
