11 103RD GENERAL ASSEMBLY State of Illinois 2023 and 2024 HB1028 Introduced , by Rep. Mary E. Flowers SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: 20 ILCS 1335/31 new Amends the 2-1-1 Service Act. Requires the Department of Human Services, subject to the availability of funds, to designate and approve a public or nonprofit agency or other organization to provide 2-1-1 services within the geographical area of Cook County. Requires the Department to provide grants to the approved 2-1-1 service provider to: (1) design, develop, and implement 2-1-1 services for the Cook County service area; (ii) provide and evaluate on an ongoing basis 2-1-1 service delivery to the Cook County service area; and (iii) enable the provision of 2-1-1 services to the Cook County service area on a 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week basis. 1111 1 AN ACT concerning State government.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The 2-1-1 Service Act is amended by adding
1515 5 Section 31 as follows:
1616 6 (20 ILCS 1335/31 new)
1717 7 Sec. 31. Cook County 2-1-1 services.
1818 8 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act and
1919 9 subject to the availability of funds as provided in subsection
2020 10 (b), the Department of Human Services shall designate and
2121 11 approve a public or nonprofit agency or other organization to
2222 12 provide 2-1-1 services within the geographical area of Cook
2323 13 County. The Department shall provide grants to the approved
2424 14 2-1-1 service provider to:
2525 15 (1) design, develop, and implement 2-1-1 services for
2626 16 the Cook County service area;
2727 17 (2) provide and evaluate on an ongoing basis 2-1-1
2828 18 service delivery to the Cook County service area; and
2929 19 (3) enable the provision of 2-1-1 services to the Cook
3030 20 County service area on a 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week
3131 21 basis.
3232 22 (b) Implementation of this Section is contingent on the
3333 23 availability of funds provided for this purpose by (i) the
