1111 1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
1515 5 changing Section 3-806.7 as follows:

1717 7 Sec. 3-806.7. Registration fees for active duty military
1818 8 personnel.
1919 9 (a) The Beginning with the 2011 registration year, the
2020 10 standard registration fee set forth in Section 3-806 of this
2121 11 Code for passenger motor vehicles of the first division and
2222 12 motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
2323 13 8,000 pounds and registered under Section 3-815 of this Code,
2424 14 shall be waived reduced by 50% for any Illinois vehicle owner
2525 15 who is an active duty or was on active duty as a member of the
2626 16 Armed Forces of the United States and stationed outside of the
2727 17 United States for a period of 90 days or longer during the
2828 18 preceding registration year.
2929 19 (b) Illinois residents who are members of the Armed Forces
3030 20 of the United States and who have been stationed outside of the
3131 21 United States for a period of 6 months or longer, and who
3232 22 placed their registered motor vehicle in storage during the
3333 23 time they served abroad, shall be entitled to credit for the

6868 1 unused portion of that registration when they renew the
6969 2 registration of that vehicle upon their return to the United
7070 3 States. For each month or part thereof that the vehicle was in
7171 4 storage and had current registration, the member of the armed
7272 5 forces shall receive one month of registration without charge.
7373 6 (c) Beginning with the 2017 registration year, the
7474 7 standard registration fee set forth in Section 3-806 of this
7575 8 Code for passenger motor vehicles of the first division and
7676 9 motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
7777 10 8,000 pounds and registered under Section 3-815 of this Code,
7878 11 shall be waived for the year following the return of any
7979 12 Illinois vehicle owner who is a member of the active-duty or
8080 13 reserve component of the United States Armed Forces who can
8181 14 provide proof of serving in a combat mission. Nothing in this
8282 15 subsection is applicable to the additional fees incurred by
8383 16 specialty, personalized, or vanity license plates.

8585 18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
