4		-	AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
5		-	Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6		-	represented in the General Assembly:
7		-	Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by
8		-	changing Section 11-196 and by adding Section 12-162.5 as
9		-	follows:
10		-	(40 ILCS 5/11-196) (from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 11-196)
11		-	Sec. 11-196. To subpoena witnesses and compel the
12		-	production of records. To issue subpoenas to compel the
13		-	attendance of witnesses to testify before it and to compel the
14		-	production of documents and records upon any matter concerning
15		-	the Fund, including, but not limited to, in conjunction with:
16		-	fund and allow witness fees not in excess of $6 per day.
17		-	(1) a disability claim;
18		-	(2) an administrative review proceeding;
19		-	(3) an attempt to obtain information to assist in the
20		-	collection of sums due to the Fund;
21		-	(4) obtaining any and all personal identifying
22		-	information necessary for the administration of benefits;
23		-	(5) the determination of the death of a benefit
24		-	recipient or a potential benefit recipient; or
25		-	(6) a felony forfeiture investigation.
26		-	The fees of witnesses for attendance and travel shall be

36		-	order requiring compliance with a subpoena issued under this
37		-	Section. Subpoenas issued under this Section shall be subject
38		-	to applicable provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure. The
39		-	president or other members of the board may administer oaths
40		-	to witnesses.
