1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
5 amended by adding Section 3B.17 as follows:
6 (70 ILCS 3615/3B.17 new)
7 Sec. 3B.17. Reduced services; students. Notwithstanding
8 any law to the contrary, on and after January 1, 2024, any
9 fixed route public transportation services provided by, or
10 under grant or purchase of service contracts of, the Commuter
11 Rail Board shall be provided at a 50% discounted fare off the
12 non-discounted adult fare to all students who present a valid
13 student ID card issued within the previous 12 months by a
14 college or university, or under conditions prescribed by the
15 Commuter Rail Board.
