The School Code is amended by changing Section 5 29-6.1 as follows: 6 (105 ILCS 5/29-6.1) (from Ch. 122, par. 29-6.1) 7 Sec. 29-6.1. Contracts for transportation. Subject to 8 Section 6-106.11 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, school boards 9 may enter into contracts for any period of time deemed 10 appropriate by those school boards up to 3 years for 11 transportation of pupils to and from school; however, no 12 contract, inclusive of any proposed renewals, may exceed 10 13 years. All contracts for a period of time greater than 5 years 14 that do not include the use of electric vehicles for pupil 15 transportation shall include a termination option after 5 16 years. Nothing in this Section prohibits contract opener 17 clauses for any purpose from being included in the contract.
