4-AN ACT concerning education.
5-Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6-represented in the General Assembly:
7-Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
8-34-18.82 as follows:
9-(105 ILCS 5/34-18.82 new)
10-Sec. 34-18.82. Subsequent teaching endorsements for
11-employees.
12-(a) Subsequent teaching endorsements may be granted to
13-employees licensed under Article 21B of this Code for specific
14-content areas and grade levels as part of a pilot program.
15-(b) The school district is authorized to prepare educators
16-for subsequent teaching endorsements on licenses issued under
17-paragraph (1) of Section 21B-20 of this Code to applicants who
18-meet all of the requirements for the endorsement or
19-endorsements, including passing any required content area
20-knowledge tests. If seeking to provide subsequent
21-endorsements, the school district must establish professional
22-development sequences to be offered instead of coursework
23-required for issuance of the subsequent endorsement and must
24-apply for approval of these professional development sequences
25-by the State Board of Education, in collaboration with the
26-State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board. The
