4-AN ACT concerning health.
5-Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6-represented in the General Assembly:
7-Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is
8-amended by adding Section 8h as follows:
9-(110 ILCS 330/8h new)
10-Sec. 8h. Maternal milk donation education.
11-(a) To ensure an adequate supply of pasteurized donor
12-human milk for premature infants in Illinois, the University
13-of Illinois Hospital shall provide information and
14-instructional materials to parents of each newborn, upon
15-discharge from the University of Illinois Hospital, regarding
16-the option to voluntarily donate milk to non-profit milk banks
17-that are accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of
18-North America or its successor organization. The materials
19-shall be provided free of charge and shall include general
20-information regarding non-profit milk banking practices and
21-contact information for area nonprofit milk banks that are
22-accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North
23-America.
24-(b) The information and instructional materials described
25-in subsection (a) may be provided electronically.
26-(c) Nothing in this Section prohibits the University of

25+23 (c) Nothing in this Section prohibits the University of

42-human milk for premature infants in Illinois, a birth center
43-with obstetrical service beds shall provide information and
44-instructional materials to parents of each newborn, upon
45-discharge from the birth center, regarding the option to
46-voluntarily donate milk to non-profit milk banks that are
47-accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North
48-America or its successor organization. The materials shall be
49-provided free of charge and shall include general information
50-regarding non-profit milk banking practices and contact
51-information for area nonprofit milk banks that are accredited

73-America or its successor organization. The materials shall be
74-provided free of charge and shall include general information
