1111 1 AN ACT concerning safety.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Firearm Owners Identification Card Act is
1515 5 amended by changing Section 7 as follows:

1717 7 Sec. 7. Validity of Firearm Owner's Identification Card.
1818 8 (a) Except as provided in Section 8 of this Act or
1919 9 elsewhere in this Section, a Firearm Owner's Identification
2020 10 Card issued under the provisions of this Act shall be valid for
2121 11 the person to whom it is issued for a period of 10 years from
2222 12 the date of issuance. Unless the person no longer meets the
2323 13 requirements or becomes subject to suspension or revocation
2424 14 under this Act, a card issued under an application made as
2525 15 provided in subsection (a-25) of Section 4 shall remain valid
2626 16 if the person meets the requirements of subsection (b-5) of
2727 17 Section 3.1.
2828 18 (b) If a renewal application is submitted to the
2929 19 Department before the expiration date of the applicant's
3030 20 current Firearm Owner's Identification Card, the Firearm
3131 21 Owner's Identification Card shall remain valid, unless the
3232 22 person is subject to or becomes subject to revocation under
3333 23 this Act. Unless the person no longer meets the requirements

6868 1 or becomes subject to suspension or revocation under this Act,
6969 2 a card issued under a renewal application made as provided in
7070 3 subsection (a-25) of Section 4 shall remain valid if the
7171 4 person meets the implementation requirements of Section 3.1.
7272 5 (c) Beginning January 1, 2022, if the Firearm Owner's
7373 6 Identification Card of a licensee under the Firearm Concealed
7474 7 Carry Act expires during the term of the licensee's concealed
7575 8 carry license, the Firearm Owner's Identification Card and the
7676 9 license remain valid during the validity of the concealed
7777 10 carry license and the licensee does not have to renew his or
7878 11 her Firearm Owner's Identification Card, if the Firearm
7979 12 Owner's Identification Card has not been otherwise renewed as
8080 13 provided in this Act. Unless the Illinois State Police has
8181 14 reason to believe the licensee is no longer eligible for the
8282 15 card, the Illinois State Police may automatically renew the
8383 16 licensee's Firearm Owner's Identification Card.
8484 17 (d) If a Firearm Owner's Identification Card is issued to
8585 18 a holder under 21 years of age, then that Firearm Owner's
8686 19 Identification Card shall expire on the holder's 21st birthday
8787 20 or 10 years from the date of issuance, whichever is earlier.
8888 21 Thereafter, the expiration and term of the Firearm Owner's
8989 22 Identification Card shall be governed by subsection (a).
