1111 1 AN ACT concerning elections.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
1515 5 Section 19A-15 as follows:

1717 7 Sec. 19A-15. Period for early voting; hours.
1818 8 (a) Except as otherwise provided in this Code, the period
1919 9 for early voting by personal appearance begins the 40th day
2020 10 preceding a general primary, consolidated primary,
2121 11 consolidated, or general election and extends through the end
2222 12 of the day of the Friday immediately preceding before election
2323 13 day.
2424 14 (b) Except as otherwise provided by this Section, a
2525 15 permanent polling place for early voting must remain open
2626 16 beginning the 15th day before an election through the end of
2727 17 the day of the Friday immediately preceding before election
2828 18 day during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or 9:00 a.m. to
2929 19 5:00 p.m., on weekdays, except that beginning 8 days before
3030 20 election day, a permanent polling place for early voting must
3131 21 remain open during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., or 9:00
3232 22 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays and

6868 1 addition to the hours required by this subsection, a permanent
6969 2 polling place designated by an election authority under
7070 3 subsections (c), (d), and (e) of Section 19A-10 must remain
7171 4 open for a total of at least 8 hours on any holiday during the
7272 5 early voting period and a total of at least 14 hours on the
7373 6 final weekend during the early voting period.
7474 7 (c) Notwithstanding subsection (b), an election authority
7575 8 may close an early voting polling place if the building in
7676 9 which the polling place is located has been closed by the State
7777 10 or unit of local government in response to a severe weather
7878 11 emergency or other force majeure. The election authority shall
7979 12 notify the State Board of Elections of any closure and shall
8080 13 make reasonable efforts to provide notice to the public of an
8181 14 alternative location for early voting.
