11	11	1 AN ACT concerning State government.
12	12	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
13	13	3 represented in the General Assembly:
14	14	4 Section 5. The Department of Transportation Law of the
15	15	5 Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding
16	16	6 Section 2705-621 as follows:
17	17	7 (20 ILCS 2705/2705-621 new)
18	18	8 Sec. 2705-621. Type II Noise Suppression Program. On or
19	19	9 before July 1, 2024, the Department shall create and implement
20	20	10 a Type II Noise Suppression Program as defined by 23 CFR 772.5
21	21	11 to provide noise abatement on existing highways in the State.
22	22	12 The Department shall determine and prioritize projects within
23	23	13 this program on the basis of the factors listed in 23 CFR
24	24	14 772.7(e). On or before July 1, 2024, the Department shall
25	25	15 provide notice to the General Assembly that the Noise
26	26	16 Suppression system has been activated.
27	27	17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
28	28	18 2023.
