1313 1 AN ACT concerning education.
1414 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1515 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1616 4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
1717 5 24-8 as follows:
1818 6 (105 ILCS 5/24-8) (from Ch. 122, par. 24-8)
1919 7 Sec. 24-8. Minimum salary. In fixing the salaries of
2020 8 teachers, school boards shall pay those who serve on a
2121 9 full-time basis not less than a rate for the school year that
2222 10 is based upon training completed in a recognized institution
2323 11 of higher learning, as follows: for the school year beginning
2424 12 July 1, 1980 and until the 2020-2021 school year, less than a
2525 13 bachelor's degree, $9,000; 120 semester hours or more and a
2626 14 bachelor's degree, $10,000; 150 semester hours or more and a
2727 15 master's degree, $11,000. In fixing the salaries of teachers,
2828 16 a school board shall pay those who serve on a full-time basis a
2929 17 rate not less than (i) $32,076 for the 2020-2021 school year,
3030 18 (ii) $34,576 for the 2021-2022 school year, (iii) $37,076 for
3131 19 the 2022-2023 school year, and (iv) $40,000 for the 2023-2024
3232 20 school year, (v) $42,500 for the 2029-2030 school year, (vi)
3333 21 $45,000 for the 2034-2035 school year, (vii) $47,500 for the
3434 22 2039-2040 school year, and (viii) $50,000 for the 2044-2045

7676 1 thereafter, subject to review by the General Assembly, shall

8484 9 the General Assembly on how State funds and funds distributed
8585 10 under the evidence-based funding formula under Section 18-8.15
8686 11 may aid the financial effects of the changes made by this
8787 12 amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly.
8888 13 Based upon previous public school experience in this State
8989 14 or any other state, territory, dependency or possession of the
9090 15 United States, or in schools operated by or under the auspices
9191 16 of the United States, teachers who serve on a full-time basis
9292 17 shall have their salaries increased to at least the following
9393 18 amounts above the starting salary for a teacher in such
9494 19 district in the same classification: with less than a
9595 20 bachelor's degree, $750 after 5 years; with 120 semester hours
9696 21 or more and a bachelor's degree, $1,000 after 5 years and
9797 22 $1,600 after 8 years; with 150 semester hours or more and a
9898 23 master's degree, $1,250 after 5 years, $2,000 after 8 years
9999 24 and $2,750 after 13 years.
100100 25 For the purpose of this Section a teacher's salary shall
101101 26 include any amount paid by the school district on behalf of the

112112 1 teacher, as teacher contributions, to the Teachers' Retirement
113113 2 System of the State of Illinois.
114114 3 If a school board establishes a schedule for teachers'
115115 4 salaries based on education and experience, not inconsistent
116116 5 with this Section, all certificated nurses employed by that
117117 6 board shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of such
118118 7 schedule.
119119 8 For purposes of this Section, a teacher who submits a
120120 9 certificate of completion to the school office prior to the
121121 10 first day of the school term shall be considered to have the
122122 11 degree stated in such certificate.
