1 AN ACT concerning finance.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by
5 adding Section 25-210 as follows:

7 Sec. 25-210. Generic prescription drug contracting. The
8 Department of Central Management Services, in consultation
9 with the Chief Procurement Officer, shall implement and
10 develop a program to establish a State prescription generic
11 drug label for the purpose of increasing competition in the
12 generic drug market and lowering generic drug prices for all
13 purchasers. The label shall include a list of the 100 most
14 commonly prescribed drugs. The Department shall contract with
15 one or more generic drug manufacturers to manufacture certain
16 generic drugs on behalf of the State and participating
17 entities. The Department shall adopt rules necessary to
18 implement and administer the program created under this
19 Section.
