Tim Ozinga SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: Appropriates $15,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, from the Build Illinois Bond Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a grant to the Tinley Park Mental Health Center for costs associated with environmental cleanup. LRB103 27317 DTM 53688 b HB3979 LRB103 27317 DTM 53688 b AN ACT concerning appropriations. 1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented 2 in the General Assembly: 3 Section 1. Legislative intent. Public Act 101 -638, which 4 contained the Fiscal Year 2021 budget, included a $15,000,000 5 capital appropriation to the Tinley Park Mental Health Center 6 for the purpose of environmental cleanup that was intended to 7 address numerous environ mental concerns with the facility after 8 its closure in 2012. However, in Fiscal Year 2022 that 9 appropriation was removed without warning or notice to the 10 Tinley Park Mental Health Center resulting in the lost 11 opportunity to access the pledged grant fundin g. 12 It is the intent of the General Assembly to restore the 13 $15,000,000 to the Tinley Park Mental Health Center that was 14 excluded by the crafters of the Fiscal Year 2022 budget so that 15 the Tinley Park Mental Health Center can finally begin the 16 process of addressing the environmental concerns that plague 17 the community. 18 Section 5. The amount of $15,000,000, or so much thereof 19 as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Build Illinois 20 Bond Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic 21 Opportunity for a grant to the Tinley Park Mental Health Center 22 HB3979 -2- LRB103 27317 DTM 53688 b for costs associated with environmental cleanup. 1 Section 99.
