                            103RD GENERAL ASSEMBLY State of Illinois 2023 and 2024 HB4200 Introduced , by Rep. Charles Meier SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: 20 ILCS 1705/54.6 new Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall direct all State-operated developmental centers to conduct all interviews and testing of an applicant applying for a position as a mental health technician in a single day at the facility at which the applicant is applying for employment. Provides that, if the applicant passes the initial interview and testing process, any required drug testing and background check shall be completed at the direction of the State-operated developmental center within 7 days after the date of the initial interview and testing. Provides that, if the applicant is found to be eligible for employment as a mental health technician, the State-operated developmental center shall, within 30 days after the initial interview and testing, notify the applicant of its decision and inform the applicant of the date of his or her first day of employment at the facility. Provides that the Department may adopt rules necessary to implement and administer the provisions. 1  AN ACT concerning State government.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental
5  Disabilities Administrative Act is amended by adding Section
6  54.6 as follows:
7  (20 ILCS 1705/54.6 new)
8  Sec. 54.6. Hiring of mental health technicians. The
9  Department shall direct all State-operated developmental
10  centers to conduct all interviews and testing of an applicant
11  applying for a position as a mental health technician in a
12  single day at the facility at which the applicant is applying
13  for employment. If the applicant passes the initial interview
14  and testing process, any required drug testing and background
15  check shall be completed at the direction of the
16  State-operated developmental center within 7 days after the
17  date of the initial interview and testing. If the applicant is
18  found to be eligible for employment as a mental health
19  technician, the State-operated developmental center shall,
