11	11	1 AN ACT concerning local government.
12	12	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
13	13	3 represented in the General Assembly:
14	14	4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
15	15	5 Teacher Admission at Local Public Museums Act.
16	16	6 Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
17	17	7 "Illinois teacher" means a person who is a teacher at an
18	18	8 elementary or secondary school in Illinois.
19	19	9 "Local public museum" means a facility that is (i) is
20	20	10 operating for the purposes of promoting cultural development
21	21	11 through special activities or programs or through performing
22	22	12 arts that are performed in an indoor setting, and acquiring,
23	23	13 conserving, preserving, studying, interpreting, enhancing,
24	24	14 and, in particular, organizing and continuously exhibiting
25	25	15 specimens, artifacts, articles, documents, and other things of
26	26	16 historical, anthropological, archaeological, industrial,
27	27	17 scientific or artistic import, to the public for its
28	28	18 instruction and enjoyment and (ii) operated by or located upon
29	29	19 land owned by a unit of local government. "Local public
30	30	20 museum" includes museums operated by historical societies;
31	31	21 museums at historic sites, landmarks, parks, monuments;
32	32	22 museums containing archived information; art, history,
33	33	23 science, and natural history museums; and botanical gardens,

68	68	1 arboreta, zoos, nature centers, planetaria, or aquaria.
69	69	2 Section 10. Free Illinois teacher admission at local
70	70	3 public museums. A local public museum shall provide free
71	71	4 admission to an Illinois teacher. The local public museum may
72	72	5 require that a person provide identification or documentation
73	73	6 showing that the person is an Illinois teacher.
74	74	7 Section 15. Exceptions. This Act does not apply to:
75	75	8 (1) an exhibit in or portion of the local public
76	76	9 museum that requires an additional payment in addition to
77	77	10 the cost to enter the local public museum; or
78	78	11 (2) special events held at a local public museum not
79	79	12 open to the general public.
80	80	13 Section 20. Conflict with other law. To the extent this
81	81	14 Act conflicts with any other provision of law, this Act
82	82	15 controls.
