1515 1 AN ACT concerning local government.
1616 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1717 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1818 4 Section 5. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is
1919 5 amended by changing Section 51 as follows:

2121 7 Sec. 51. Free and reduced fare services; eligibility.
2222 8 (a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than
2323 9 60 days following January 18, 2008 (the effective date of
2424 10 Public Act 95-708) this amendatory Act of the 95th General
2525 11 Assembly and until subsection (b) is implemented, any fixed
2626 12 route public transportation services provided by, or under
2727 13 grant or purchase of service contracts of, the Board shall be
2828 14 provided without charge to all senior citizens of the
2929 15 Metropolitan Region (as such term is defined in Section 1.03
3030 16 of the Regional Transportation Authority Act 70 ILCS
3131 17 3615/1.03) aged 65 and older, under such conditions as shall
3232 18 be prescribed by the Board.
3333 19 (b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than
3434 20 180 days following February 14, 2011 (the effective date of
3535 21 Public Act 96-1527) this amendatory Act of the 96th General
3636 22 Assembly, any fixed route public transportation services

8282 1 of, the Board shall be provided without charge to senior
8383 2 citizens aged 65 and older whose income does not exceed 105% of
8484 3 who meet the income eligibility limitation set forth in
8585 4 subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and
8686 5 Persons with Disabilities Property Tax Relief Act, under such
8787 6 conditions as shall be prescribed by the Board. The Department
8888 7 on Aging shall furnish all information reasonably necessary to
8989 8 determine eligibility, including updated lists of individuals
9090 9 who are eligible for services without charge under this
9191 10 Section. After an initial eligibility determination is made,
9292 11 an individual's eligibility for free services shall
9393 12 automatically renew every 5 years after receipt by the
9494 13 Authority of a copy of the individual's government-issued
9595 14 identification card validating Illinois residency. Nothing in
9696 15 this Section shall relieve the Board from providing reduced
9797 16 fares as may be required by federal law.
9898 17 (c) The Board shall partner with the City of Chicago to
9999 18 provide transportation at reduced fares for participants in
100100 19 programs that offer employment and internship opportunities to
101101 20 youth and young adults ages 14 through 24.

135135 20 Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities
136136 21 Property Tax Relief Act, under such conditions as shall be
137137 22 prescribed by the Suburban Bus Board. The Department on Aging
