11	11	1 AN ACT concerning safety.
12	12	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
13	13	3 represented in the General Assembly:
14	14	4 Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
15	15	5 adding Section 59.18 as follows:
16	16	6 (415 ILCS 5/59.18 new)
17	17	7 Sec. 59.18. Sole source aquifer carbon sequestration
18	18	8 operations prohibited. No person shall conduct a carbon
19	19	9 sequestration activity over any federally designated sole
20	20	10 source aquifer, including, without limitation, the Mahomet
21	21	11 Sole Source Aquifer. The Agency shall not issue a carbon
22	22	12 sequestration permit under this Title if the Agency knows that
23	23	13 the applicant is intending to conduct carbon sequestration
24	24	14 activity over any federally designated sole source aquifer,
25	25	15 including, without limitation, the Mahomet Sole Source
26	26	16 Aquifer.
