8 | 8 | | 6 Theodore McFadden in Carthage, Mississippi on May 11, 1932; |

9 | 9 | | 7 she and her siblings tragically lost their mother and were |

10 | 10 | | 8 raised by their maternal grandmother, Levonia Banks; she |

11 | 11 | | 9 attended Pilgrim Rest Elementary School and graduated from |
---|
12 | 12 | | 10 Leake County Agricultural High School; she married Andrew D. |
---|
13 | 13 | | 11 "A.D." Singleton Sr. in October of 1950, and they eventually |

14 | 14 | | 12 settled in Chicago; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | 13 WHEREAS, Maggie Singleton, while she never worked outside |

16 | 16 | | 14 of her home, was gifted at managing household finances and |
---|
17 | 17 | | 15 budgeting; her skills enabled the family to move from |
---|
18 | 18 | | 16 Chicago's Englewood neighborhood to the middle-class |
---|
19 | 19 | | 17 neighborhood of Chatham in 1963; while there, they supported |
---|
20 | 20 | | 18 numerous extended family members who also migrated from |
---|
21 | 21 | | 19 Mississippi to Chicago; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | 20 WHEREAS, Maggie Singleton's family meant the world to her; |

23 | 23 | | 21 she was the consummate homemaker and an excellent cook; she |
---|
24 | 24 | | 22 instilled a strong work ethic in all of her children and |

42 | 42 | | 10 congregation and faithfully participated in the Seniors Small |

43 | 43 | | 11 Group Ministry, where she made many friends; and |

44 | 44 | | 12 WHEREAS, Maggie Singleton was known for her amazing sense |
---|
45 | 45 | | 13 of humor, her infectious laughter, and for being very |
---|
46 | 46 | | 14 personable; she loved talking on the phone, especially to her |
---|
47 | 47 | | 15 family and close friends, and often began making her daily |
---|
48 | 48 | | 16 phone calls before 5:00 a.m.; and |
---|
49 | 49 | | 17 WHEREAS, Maggie Singleton was preceded in death by her |

50 | 50 | | 18 husband of 63 years, Andrew; her twin sons, Keith and Kevin; |
