4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
5	5	3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles
6	6	4 James "Chas" Hudson Jr., who passed away on October 20, 2023;
7	7	5 and
8	8	6 WHEREAS, Chas Hudson was born to Dr. Charles James Hudson
9	9	7 Sr. and Tamara Lydia Hudson on September 18, 1982; as an
10	10	8 infant, he was baptized into the Catholic faith; he received
11	11	9 his elementary education at St. Thomas the Apostle and St.
12	12	10 Joachim, where he graduated; he then attended Paul Laurence
13	13	11 Dunbar High School, where he was an integral member of the
14	14	12 football team that won the Chicago Citywide Championship in
15	15	13 1997; upon graduation, he attended Alabama State University in
16	16	14 Montgomery, Alabama; and
17	17	15 WHEREAS, Chas Hudson pursued a career with railroad
18	18	16 companies CSX, Canadian National, and Metra; he was
19	19	17 extraordinarily committed to his work, leading him to quickly
20	20	18 be promoted to a carman with Metra; he loved his career and the
21	21	19 many colleagues who became friends; he remained a proud
22	22	20 employee of Metra until his passing; and
23	23	21 WHEREAS, Chas Hudson enjoyed dressing well, fine dining,
24	24	22 traveling, and cooking; he learned his cooking and grill

34	34	2 he pursued advancing his skills with his brothers and cousins,
35	35	3 especially on the weekends during football season; his
36	36	4 specialties included ribs, jerk chicken, fried turkey, and
37	37	5 macaroni and cheese; his love of cooking eventually led him to
38	38	6 catering events for family and friends; and
39	39	7 WHEREAS, Chas Hudson was dedicated to his family and
40	40	8 friends; and
41	41	9 WHEREAS, Chas Hudson was preceded in death by his mother
42	42	10 and his grandparents, Booker and Arthemise Washington and
43	43	11 Percy and Marie Hudson; and
44	44	12 WHEREAS, Chas Hudson is survived by his father; his
45	45	13 brothers, Dedrek Hudson and Phillip (Tashaunee) Hudson Sr.;
46	46	14 his nephew and niece, P.J. Hudson and Tamara Hudson; his
47	47	15 great-aunts, Ida Mae Simmons and Inez Moore; his aunts, Ruth
48	48	16 Nichols, Hattie White, Dorothy Hudson, Irma Hudson, Bertha
49	49	17 Hudson, and Taliva Tillman; his uncles, Clarence (Betty)
50	50	18 Hudson, Donald (Kathy) Hudson Sr., Robert Hudson, and Eugene
51	51	19 (Corrine) Hudson; his special friend, Nikita St. Clair; and a
52	52	20 host of other relatives, friends, and colleagues; therefore,
