1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Jamie Yates on the
4 occasion of his retirement as principal of Farmingdale
5 Elementary School; and
6 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates has served as principal of
7 Farmingdale Elementary School for the past 19 years; and
8 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates was raised in Mt. Vernon, graduating
9 from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1986; he received
10 his Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Eastern
11 Illinois University in 1990; he earned his Master of Arts in
12 Human Development and Family Studies from the University of
13 Illinois Springfield in 1996; and
14 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates began his teaching career at Pleasant
15 Plains High School in 1991, where he taught and coached for
16 five years; and
17 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates then served as a guidance counselor
18 and coach at Williamsville-Sherman Community Unit School
19 District #15 for four years, beginning in 1995; and
20 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates returned to Pleasant Plains Community

1 Unit School District #8 in 2000, serving as a guidance
2 counselor for three years until he was hired as assistant
3 principal at Pleasant Plains High School; and
4 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates became principal of Farmingdale
5 Elementary School starting in 2005; and
6 WHEREAS, Jamie Yates is the husband of Joni, and they are
7 the proud parents of five children, Emily, Marybeth, Johnnie,
8 Ellie, and Mollie; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10 HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate Jamie Yates on his retirement as principal of
12 Farmingdale Elementary School, and we wish him success in his
13 future endeavors; and be it further
