1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Kevin O'Gorman on the
4 occasion of his retirement; and
5 WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman, the son of Irish immigrants, was
6 born on the South Side of Chicago; he graduated from Oak Lawn
7 High School; he attended Washburne Trade School and completed
8 his apprenticeship with Carpenters Local 141; and
9 WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman worked as a union carpenter in
10 private and public settings and spent a good portion of his
11 career training new apprentice carpenters; he was been proud
12 to work with his hands in a meaningful career; and
13 WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman's career culminated in his work as
14 assistant to the executive secretary-treasurer and political
15 director for the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council; and
16 WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman also served in other union roles,
17 including as Local 141 recording secretary, Local 141
18 president, Local 141 and Local 10 delegate to the council,
19 Local 141 and Local 10 delegate to the United Brotherhood of
20 Carpenters and Joiners of America International Conventions,
21 AFL-CIO delegate, AFL-CIO COPE representative, CFL delegate,

1 CFL COPE representative, and CISCO board member; he retired in
2 2022 with 40 years of membership in the United Brotherhood of
3 Carpenters and Joiners of America; and
4 WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman believed strongly in the work he
5 did and spent his entire career working to create a collective
6 voice and protecting working people; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8 HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we congratulate Kevin O'Gorman on his retirement, and we wish
10 him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
