| 18 | 18 | | 8 (a) The Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable |

| 20 | 20 | | 10 Secretary, may issue special registration plates designated as |

| 21 | 21 | | 11 United States Submarine Veterans plates to residents of this |

| 22 | 22 | | 12 State who served in the United States Navy as a submariner. The |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 13 special plates issued under this Section shall be affixed only |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 14 to passenger vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 15 motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 16 8,000 pounds. Plates under this Section shall expire according |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 17 to the multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 18 this Code. |

| 29 | 29 | | 19 (b) The plates shall display the United States Submarine |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 20 Veterans logo and the phrase "Silent Service". In all other |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 21 respects, the design and color of the special plates shall be |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 22 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate |

| 33 | 33 | | 23 documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany |
