12	12	1 AN ACT concerning correctional facilities.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
16	16	5 Censorship in Correctional Facilities Act.
17	17	6 Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
18	18	7 "Law enforcement agency" means an agency of the State or
19	19	8 of a unit of local government charged with enforcement of
20	20	9 State, county, or municipal laws or with managing custody of
21	21	10 detained persons in the State.
22	22	11 "Law enforcement official" means any individual with the
23	23	12 power to arrest or detain individuals, including law
24	24	13 enforcement officers, corrections officers, and others
25	25	14 employed or designated by a law enforcement agency. "Law
26	26	15 enforcement official" includes a probation officer.
27	27	16 Section 10. Censorship or book bans prohibited. A law
28	28	17 enforcement agency or law enforcement official shall not
29	29	18 refuse to approve the use or prohibit the use of books,
30	30	19 including, but not limited to, memoirs, autobiographies, and
31	31	20 biographies, based upon the depiction in those materials of
32	32	21 matters related to the protected characteristics or categories
