3	3	1 SENATE RESOLUTION
4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Charlotte Maris Wax of Newman, who
6	6	4 passed away on December 18, 2022 at the age of 103; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was born in Tuscola on February 27,
8	8	6 1919 and graduated from the University of Illinois; and
9	9	7 WHEREAS, Along with work on the family farm in Newman
10	10	8 raising corn, soybeans, Duroc hogs, and Shorthorn cattle,
11	11	9 Charlotte Wax taught business at the high school in Tuscola;
12	12	10 and
13	13	11 WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was a lifelong member of the Newman
14	14	12 Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher
15	15	13 and Methodist Woman member; she was active in the Newman
16	16	14 Woman's Club, serving as a 50-year member; she was still a
17	17	15 devoted 49-year member of the Stephen A. Douglas Chapter of
18	18	16 the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she had served
19	19	17 as Regent and Honorary Regent; she was a long time 4-H leader
20	20	18 with the Newman Kum-Joy-Nus 4-H Club, and she started the
21	21	19 Buttons n Bows Home Economics Club for sewing and food
22	22	20 projects; she also chaperoned the dorms for many years at the
23	23	21 Illinois State Fair; and

32	32	1 WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was the Illinois Future Homemakers
33	33	2 of America Chapter Mother in 1969 and was selected as
34	34	3 Illinoisan of the Day at the Illinois State Fair in 2018; and
35	35	4 WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax enjoyed genealogy, reading, playing
36	36	5 euchre, watching Illini sports, and spoiling her ten
37	37	6 grandchildren and 25 plus great-grandchildren; and
38	38	7 WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax was preceded in death by her
39	39	8 husband of 43 years, Ray Wax, and her parents, Ward and Zala
40	40	9 Maris; and
41	41	10 WHEREAS, Charlotte Wax is survived by her sons, Wallace
42	42	11 (Becky) and Richard (Carol); her daughter, Martha (Robert);
43	43	12 her grandchildren, Deborah Holifield, Kimberly Rund, Michael
44	44	13 Wax, Andrea Gallagher, Katharine Sherman, David Wax, Andrew
45	45	14 Wax, Kristina Milburn, Roberta Lower, and Scott Burris; and
46	46	15 her great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
47	47	16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
48	48	17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
49	49	18 Charlotte Maris Wax and extend our sincere condolences to her
50	50	19 family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
51	51	20 further
52	52	21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
