| 4 | 4 | | 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |

| 5 | 5 | | 3 to learn of the death of Les Peterson of Palos Park, who passed |

| 6 | 6 | | 4 away on January 6, 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 5 WHEREAS, Les Peterson was born in Chicago on March 5, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 6 1954; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 7 WHEREAS, Les Peterson worked in law enforcement for 50 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 8 years; in addition to his work as a public servant, he spent 25 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 9 years as an educator, teaching law enforcement to local |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 10 college students; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11 WHEREAS, Les Peterson had an amazing sense of humor with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 12 an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up even the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 13 biggest of rooms; when he was not building something, fixing |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 14 something, or taking part in one of his many interesting |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 15 hobbies such as beekeeping, he could usually be found towing |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 16 his kids around the lake on inner tubes or driving his beloved |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 17 granddaughter, "Baby Reesie", around the yard on the golf |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 18 cart; he was an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen; and |

| 21 | 21 | | 19 WHEREAS, Les Peterson was a "best friend" and "brother" to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 20 many and lived his life with a servant's heart, always ready to |

| 23 | 23 | | 21 help someone when they needed something; and |
