| 4 | 4 | | 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |

| 5 | 5 | | 3 to learn of the death of Diann Marie Bennett of Petersburg, who |

| 6 | 6 | | 4 passed away on March 5, 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 5 WHEREAS, Diann Bennett was born to George S. and Marian E. |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 6 Davis in Bennington, Kansas on December 7, 1928; she graduated |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 7 from Wamego High School and Kansas State College in Manhattan, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 8 Kansas with high honors; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 9 WHEREAS, Diann Bennett taught high school mathematics |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 10 prior to moving to Illinois and raising her family; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11 WHEREAS, As her children began to graduate, Diann Bennett |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 12 returned to school in her 50s, attending Lincoln Land |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 13 Community College; with her new computer skills, she set up |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 14 accounting systems as the office bookkeeper for R&H Home |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 15 Supply; she finally retired at age 91; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 16 WHEREAS, Diann Bennett was a member of the Petersburg |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 17 United Methodist Church and served in numerous local |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 18 organizations, including the Daughters of the American |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 19 Revolution (DAR), the Petersburg Town and County Women's Club, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 20 Cub Scouts, Brownies, New Salem Shooting Stars, and United |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 21 Methodist Women; and |

| 39 | 39 | | 8 listening ear, love of life, and sweet smile; and |

| 40 | 40 | | 9 WHEREAS, Diann Bennett was preceded in death by her |

| 41 | 41 | | 10 parents; her sister, Alice Hartig; her cousin, James Chaffee; |

| 42 | 42 | | 11 and her son, Stuart Bennett; and |

| 43 | 43 | | 12 WHEREAS, Diann Bennett is survived by her children, Liane |
