4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Adele B. McFadden of Springfield, who
6	6	4 passed away on May 25, 2023; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was born to Darrell "D.C." and
8	8	6 Albina "Bea" Drasgulis Long in Springfield on April 8, 1950;
9	9	7 she graduated from Springfield High School and earned her
10	10	8 Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the
11	11	9 University of Illinois at Springfield; she married Brian
12	12	10 McFadden in Springfield on December 15, 2001; and
13	13	11 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden enjoyed a diverse and accomplished
14	14	12 career that included serving as a recycling program
15	15	13 coordinator for the State of Illinois, office manager for
16	16	14 Sojourn Shelter and Services, and owner and operator of the
17	17	15 iconic downtown establishment On Broadway; she finished her
18	18	16 career as the assistant director of Planning and Economic
19	19	17 Development for the City of Springfield; and
20	20	18 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden's passions included a lifelong
21	21	19 love of blues music and remodeling and flipping homes,
22	22	20 starting long before the existence of HGTV; she was also an
23	23	21 expert at entertaining, whether it was organizing a child's
24	24	22 party, a backyard blowout, or her legendary Christmas Eve

33	33	1 parties; she loved to make others happy, and she did it
34	34	2 exceptionally well; and
35	35	3 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was affectionately known as "Momo"
36	36	4 to her grandchildren; after retiring early, she gladly traded
37	37	5 her professional career for days of endless games of Scooby
38	38	6 Doo, hide and seek, and badminton and fun with LEGO; she showed
39	39	7 her grandchildren the world, including Disney, beach trips,
40	40	8 river canoeing, Broadway shows, museums, and art galleries;
41	41	9 she spent her life modeling for her grandchildren how to make
42	42	10 the most of every minute, to work hard and never settle, and to
43	43	11 give and love intensely; and
44	44	12 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden will be remembered as a fiercely
45	45	13 strong and independent woman, a wise and compassionate mother,
46	46	14 and a devoted wife whose love was unlimited and unconditional;

48	48	16 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was preceded in death by her
49	49	17 parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Bill
50	50	18 Dietsch; and
51	51	19 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden is survived by her husband, Brian
52	52	20 McFadden; her daughter, Kellie (Casey) Crayne; her
53	53	21 grandchildren, Kayla, Nathanael, and Logan; her
54	54	22 great-granddaughter, Livy; her sister, Patty (Pat Bumpus)

67	67	3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
68	68	4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
69	69	5 Adele B. McFadden and extend our sincere condolences to her
70	70	6 family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
71	71	7 further
72	72	8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
73	73	9 presented to the family of Adele McFadden as an expression of
74	74	10 our deepest sympathy.
