44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Adele B. McFadden of Springfield, who
66 4 passed away on May 25, 2023; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was born to Darrell "D.C." and
88 6 Albina "Bea" Drasgulis Long in Springfield on April 8, 1950;
99 7 she graduated from Springfield High School and earned her
1010 8 Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the
1111 9 University of Illinois at Springfield; she married Brian
1212 10 McFadden in Springfield on December 15, 2001; and
1313 11 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden enjoyed a diverse and accomplished
1414 12 career that included serving as a recycling program
1515 13 coordinator for the State of Illinois, office manager for
1616 14 Sojourn Shelter and Services, and owner and operator of the
1717 15 iconic downtown establishment On Broadway; she finished her
1818 16 career as the assistant director of Planning and Economic
1919 17 Development for the City of Springfield; and
2020 18 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden's passions included a lifelong
2121 19 love of blues music and remodeling and flipping homes,
2222 20 starting long before the existence of HGTV; she was also an
2323 21 expert at entertaining, whether it was organizing a child's
2424 22 party, a backyard blowout, or her legendary Christmas Eve

3535 3 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was affectionately known as "Momo"
3636 4 to her grandchildren; after retiring early, she gladly traded
3737 5 her professional career for days of endless games of Scooby
3838 6 Doo, hide and seek, and badminton and fun with LEGO; she showed
3939 7 her grandchildren the world, including Disney, beach trips,
4040 8 river canoeing, Broadway shows, museums, and art galleries;
4141 9 she spent her life modeling for her grandchildren how to make
4242 10 the most of every minute, to work hard and never settle, and to
4343 11 give and love intensely; and
4444 12 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden will be remembered as a fiercely
4545 13 strong and independent woman, a wise and compassionate mother,
4646 14 and a devoted wife whose love was unlimited and unconditional;

4848 16 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden was preceded in death by her
4949 17 parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Bill
5050 18 Dietsch; and
5151 19 WHEREAS, Adele McFadden is survived by her husband, Brian
5252 20 McFadden; her daughter, Kellie (Casey) Crayne; her
5353 21 grandchildren, Kayla, Nathanael, and Logan; her
5454 22 great-granddaughter, Livy; her sister, Patty (Pat Bumpus)

6868 4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
