4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Roger Lewis Ferguson, who passed away
6	6	4 surrounded on June 9, 2023; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was born to Vewen and Laura
8	8	6 (Baker) Ferguson in Piper City on April 30, 1931; he lived for
9	9	7 several years with his grandparents, Calvin and Lola Belle,
10	10	8 and 10 aunts and uncles; he graduated from Chenoa High School;
11	11	9 he married Norma Delores Eisele in Flanagan on September 3,
12	12	10 1950; he served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force
13	13	11 during the Korean War; and
14	14	12 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson and Delores moved to Campus to
15	15	13 farm and raise dairy cows and hogs after his discharge from the
16	16	14 military; he farmed for over 40 years and then began a second
17	17	15 career in professional photography; he was a member of the
18	18	16 Illinois Photographer Association and won several awards for
19	19	17 his portraits; he was recognized by the Burrell Printing
20	20	18 Company for photography, and his photo was selected as the
21	21	19 cover for a brochure widely distributed throughout the U.S.;

23	23	21 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was elected road commissioner of

32	32	1 Broughton Township and served for 16 years; he also served as
33	33	2 clerk of the Village of Emington for six years; and
34	34	3 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson married Constance "Connie" Bland
35	35	4 in Urbana on October 10, 1992; and
36	36	5 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was a member of the American
37	37	6 Legion; he proudly served as president of the Senior Advisory
38	38	7 Board for Champaign County; he was a member of United
39	39	8 Congregational Church in Emington and Friendship Lutheran
40	40	9 Church of Joy; and
41	41	10 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was known for his quiet sense of
42	42	11 humor and easy smile; and
43	43	12 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was preceded in death by his
44	44	13 parents; his wife, Norma; his brother, Howard Ferguson; his
45	45	14 son-in-law, John Buttitta Jr.; and his grandson, Zachary
46	46	15 Pound; and
47	47	16 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson is survived by his wife, Connie;
48	48	17 his children, Kathie (James) Pound, Thomas (Tiffany) Ferguson,
49	49	18 Shannon (Bob) Graulich, Brian Mulcahy, and Darin (Lisa)
50	50	19 Mulcahy; his grandchildren, Andrea Buttitta, Karin (Andrew)
51	51	20 Stueland, Timothy (Hope) Buttitta, Kelsey Vansandt, Connor

70	70	8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
71	71	9 Roger Lewis Ferguson and extend our sincere condolences to his
72	72	10 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
73	73	11 further
74	74	12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
75	75	13 presented to the family of Roger Ferguson as an expression of
76	76	14 our deepest sympathy.
