44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Roger Lewis Ferguson, who passed away
66 4 surrounded on June 9, 2023; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was born to Vewen and Laura
88 6 (Baker) Ferguson in Piper City on April 30, 1931; he lived for
99 7 several years with his grandparents, Calvin and Lola Belle,
1010 8 and 10 aunts and uncles; he graduated from Chenoa High School;
1111 9 he married Norma Delores Eisele in Flanagan on September 3,
1212 10 1950; he served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force
1313 11 during the Korean War; and
1414 12 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson and Delores moved to Campus to
1515 13 farm and raise dairy cows and hogs after his discharge from the
1616 14 military; he farmed for over 40 years and then began a second
1717 15 career in professional photography; he was a member of the
1818 16 Illinois Photographer Association and won several awards for
1919 17 his portraits; he was recognized by the Burrell Printing
2020 18 Company for photography, and his photo was selected as the
2121 19 cover for a brochure widely distributed throughout the U.S.;

2323 21 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was elected road commissioner of

3333 2 clerk of the Village of Emington for six years; and
3434 3 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson married Constance "Connie" Bland
3535 4 in Urbana on October 10, 1992; and
3636 5 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was a member of the American
3737 6 Legion; he proudly served as president of the Senior Advisory
3838 7 Board for Champaign County; he was a member of United
3939 8 Congregational Church in Emington and Friendship Lutheran
4040 9 Church of Joy; and
4141 10 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was known for his quiet sense of
4242 11 humor and easy smile; and
4343 12 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was preceded in death by his
4444 13 parents; his wife, Norma; his brother, Howard Ferguson; his
4545 14 son-in-law, John Buttitta Jr.; and his grandson, Zachary
4646 15 Pound; and
4747 16 WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson is survived by his wife, Connie;
4848 17 his children, Kathie (James) Pound, Thomas (Tiffany) Ferguson,
4949 18 Shannon (Bob) Graulich, Brian Mulcahy, and Darin (Lisa)
