44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Laddie Joe Storckman of Hutsonville,
66 4 who passed away on June 13, 2023; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was born in Olney to J.O. and
88 6 Madelyn (Collins) Storckman on December 18, 1952; he was
99 7 raised in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School in
1010 8 1970; he married Connie Vandevender on May 31, 1975; and
1111 9 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman joined the U.S. Marine Corps in
1212 10 1971 and, following initial training at Parris Island in July
1313 11 of that year, entered combat training at Camp Lejeune before
1414 12 moving on to the Parris Island School of Music, where he
1515 13 trained from January to March of 1972; he performed in
1616 14 countless ceremonies, events, and parades across the nation,
1717 15 including several White House events, the inaugural parade of
1818 16 President Nixon, and the opening of Disney World; he traveled
1919 17 with the Silent Drill Platoon, and together, they represented
2020 18 the U.S. with honor and distinction; and
2121 19 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was honorably discharged in July
2222 20 of 1973 and returned home to study petroleum technology at
2323 21 Lincoln Trail College, where he earned an associate degree in
2424 22 1975; he worked for Marathon in Robinson, Chevron in Rangely,

3333 1 Colorado, and Amoco in Evanston, Wyoming; most recently, he
3434 2 was an oil and gas well inspector for the State of Illinois;

3636 4 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was an avid outdoorsman and
3737 5 loved hunting, fishing, and gardening; he was also a dedicated
3838 6 student of history and had a particular interest in the
3939 7 fur-trading days of America and the Pacific Theater of World
4040 8 War II; and
4141 9 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was an active member of Trimble
4242 10 Bible Church, where he served as a board member, treasurer,
4343 11 and song leader; and
4444 12 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was a faithful and dependable
4545 13 man who was a rock for his family; and
4646 14 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was preceded in death by his
4747 15 parents; his father-in-law, Leroy Vandevender; his
4848 16 brothers-in-law, John Vandevender and Robert Takacs; his
4949 17 sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dianne E. and Rick Pollard;
5050 18 and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
5151 19 WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman is survived by his wife of 48
5252 20 years, Connie; his daughter, Amy Teska; his son and
5353 21 daughter-in-law, Ryan and Sara Storckman; his grandchildren,

7272 9 Laddie Joe Storckman and extend our sincere condolences to his
7373 10 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it

7575 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7676 13 presented to the family of Laddie Storckman as an expression
