44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Marion Thompson of Aledo, who passed
66 4 away on October 4, 2023; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born to Allan and Opal
88 6 (Walton) Thompson in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on October 23, 1936;
99 7 after high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; and
1010 8 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served the local community as an
1111 9 auxiliary policeman for many years; he also worked as a
1212 10 precision tool grinder for JI Case for 33 years; and
1313 11 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served as a scout leader and a
1414 12 rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club; and
1515 13 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson enjoyed restoring tractors and
1616 14 lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting; and
1717 15 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was preceded in death by his
1818 16 parents and his brother, Theodore Thompson; and
1919 17 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Kathryn
2020 18 Thompson; his children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia
2121 19 Thompson, and Joshua Thompson; his grandchildren, Rob,
