4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
5	5	3 recognize Dave Rydell for his business and civic leadership,
6	6	4 his charitable generosity, his abiding respect for others, and
7	7	5 his decades-long dedication to the betterment of his
8	8	6 community; and
9	9	7 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell serves as chairman of Bergstrom Inc.,
10	10	8 a designer and builder of climate systems for the commercial
11	11	9 vehicle industry, which was founded in 1949 and will be
12	12	10 celebrating its 75th anniversary on June 22, 2024; currently,
13	13	11 the company employs over 1,500 people globally, and additional
14	14	12 locations include Wales, Spain, China, and Mexico; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell's business strategy has always
16	16	14 revolved around employment in Rockford; expanding the company
17	17	15 globally has secured, sustained, and expanded employment
18	18	16 opportunities locally; a code of conduct, which all employees
19	19	17 are expected to follow, includes treating everyone with
20	20	18 respect, honesty, dignity, and courtesy; employees maintain
21	21	19 Bergstrom's integrity and reputation through behavior that is
22	22	20 performance-driven, professional, and ethical; and
23	23	21 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell has served on many community boards
24	24	22 and continues to do so; he currently serves on the boards for

36	36	4 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell previously served on the boards of
37	37	5 Rockford University (chair), the Transform Rockford Steering
38	38	6 Committee, the Rockford Rescue Mission, Lutheran Social
39	39	7 Services of Illinois, U.S. Bank, the United Way of Rock River
40	40	8 Valley (2005 campaign chair), the Center for Sight and Hearing
41	41	9 (past board chair), the Rockford YMCA, the Midway Village and
42	42	10 Museum Center, the Nicholas Conservatory Steering Committee,
43	43	11 and Friends of the Coronado; and
44	44	12 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell has received numerous recognitions,
45	45	13 including the 2004 Betty Henry Award, the 2005 Excalibur
46	46	14 Award, the 2008 Rockford Business Hall of Fame Award, the 2016
47	47	15 Rockford Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award, and
48	48	16 the 2018 Lincoln Laureate Award; and
49	49	17 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell has supported many events, including
50	50	18 Stars & Stripes - A Salute to Our Veterans, A Night of
51	51	19 Appreciation for the Rockford Fire Department, and the
52	52	20 Bergstrom Stateline Quiz Bowl; and
53	53	21 WHEREAS, Dave Rydell founded the Bergstrom Inc. Charitable
54	54	22 Foundation in 1967, which has provided much needed support for
