44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Ward T. Roberson of Rock Island, who
66 4 passed away on January 28, 2024; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was born to Paul and Florence "Flo"
88 6 Sallows Roberson in Moline on November 29, 1945; he married
99 7 Sherry J. Nelson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island in
1010 8 1967; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; and
1111 9 WHEREAS, Ward Roberson worked for John Deere Harvester in
1212 10 East Moline for 32 years, retiring in the late 1990s; and
1313 11 WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was a member of the Izaak Walton
1414 12 League of America, Davenport Chapter and the QC Parrot Heads;
1515 13 he bowled in the John Deere Bowling League for many years; and
1616 14 WHEREAS, Ward Roberson enjoyed working on cars, watching
1717 15 the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, collecting coins, and
1818 16 fishing; he had an ear for music and enjoyed organizing all of
1919 17 his albums and songs by the generations in which they were
2020 18 released; he loved spending time with his family, especially
2121 19 his grandchildren; and
2222 20 WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was preceded in death by his

3131 1 parents; his granddaughter, Elianna; and his twin brother,
3232 2 Wade Roberson Sr.; and
3333 3 WHEREAS, Ward Roberson is survived by his wife; his
3434 4 children, Wendy (Jim) Carlson and Tim (Mary Lou) Roberson; his
3535 5 grandchildren, Kyle Carlson, Kasey Carlson, Kelsey Carlson,
3636 6 and Matthew Roberson; and his siblings, Diane (Larry) Smith,
3737 7 Paulette (Shawn) Moreno, and Amy Kresse; therefore, be it
3838 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
3939 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
